Pehredar Piya Ki Goes Off Air; Crew & Cast in a state of shock

After much protest and a written petition against the show ‘Pehredar Piya Ki’, Sony Entertainment Television on Tuesday announced that it is taking the show off air.

On Tuesday, Sony Entertainment Television released a statement according to which the much in limelight show Pehredaar Piya Ki has been taken off the air. The statement came as a shock as there was no intimation of the same. The show was last aired on Friday.

Pehredaar Piya Ki started in mid-July this year and ever since its launch was the center of all negative publicity. The show was based on the story of an 18-year-old girl marrying a 9-year-old child and taking care of him. However, the audience was hyper because the boy was shown falling in love with the old girl. In fact, there were scenes like Suh Agra at and more being filmed between the two.

A Mumbai based non- profit organization, Jai Ho Foundation was the first to file a petition against the serial in the I & B Association. The serial also called up a social media outrage with people protesting against the show. Reacting to it, Broadcasting Content Complaints Council (BCCC) shifted the time of the serial to late in the evening from its prime time broadcast schedule.

The statement released by Sony Entertainment Television reads, "Effective 28th August 2017, we are pulling off our program, Pehredaar Piya Ki, from television. While we understand that the decision to end this serial will be disappointing to those whose creative energies are vested in it, namely, its crew and cast, we (as a channel) are convinced that we will be better served by focusing instead on developing viewer interest in our upcoming, new shows. We are grateful to all the artists, producers and fans of our shows and request you to graciously support the viewership of our newer ventures,"

The cast and crew were equally surprised with the statement as they were also not aware of the foreclosure.

Kriti Sanon: I am more like Bitti, I do not do things because I am supposed to do

There are many interesting things that Kriti Sanon got to do to play her character in her upcoming movie Bareilly Ki Barfi. Be it gate crashing a Roka ceremony or doing some UP nuances, she had enjoyed doing everything. She says that she can greatly connect with Bitti- as both she and Bitti won’t do anything blindly only for the sake of society.

Talking about the Father-daughter relationship in the movie Kriti Sanon says that it is one of its kinds. Her character in the movie, Bitti is very closely attached to her father. She also says that playing this relationship was the best part of the movie for her- "It is a special kind of relationship. It is about a father trusting his daughter so much that he knows that she won't do something wrong. He smokes, so he knows that she does, too, and never stops her only because she is a girl. He knows that she wants to live her life on her own terms, but he is also possessive and concerned at the same time,"

She also shares her thought about the connection between her and the character she plays on screen- She does not want to follow anything without understanding its logic. That is how I connect with this character. The way I have been brought up, I question things. Ladkiyan paer nahi chhooti, ladke chhoote hain. It is a way of showing respect, par fir woh apne sasural jaake paer chhooti hain. I don't understand this. If someone asks me to follow certain things because 'girls are supposed to do it', I don't follow them just because of that. In that context, I think Bollywood is becoming quite liberal, and putting things in front of the audience, ki ye hota hai, ye kyun hota hai? There are so many movies based on women's characters that show their struggle, like 'Mary Kom' and 'Piku'. People say ladka chahiye, but here is this girl (in 'Piku') who hasn't married because she is taking care of her father all her life. So I think that is really a better way of making movies,"

Bareilly ki Barfi is set to release this Friday and in the picture, Kriti can be scene playing one her many moods. She says that she even went to Lucknow and met some college girls before the shooting started to get the right dialect.

Tim Cook promises more money and power to grow Apple in India.

The CEO is one of the most powerful companies in the world; Apple has reiterated his commitment that they will invest more money and power on growing Apple in India. He stated that he is “very, very bullish and very, very optimistic” about India. Cook was attending the third quarter earnings call on Tuesday when he had a warm conversation with the analyst. In his interview, Cook hinted of the brand's expansion in terms of manufacturing and distribution in the country.

“We are investing in India-…we’ve already launched an app accelerator centre,” Cook said. “That’s on top of working with the channel and looking at expanding our go-to market in general. And we began to produce the iPhone SE there during the quarter, and we’re really happy with how that’s going. And so we’re bringing all of our energies to bear there. I see a lot of similarities to where China was several years ago.”

In accordance with their plans, the company opened its first iPhone SE assembling operations unit in Bengaluru in partnership with Wistron. The company has already sought tax exemptions and fiscal benefits from the Centre which indicates that the company has all the plans to start full-fledged manufacturing operations. The market experts claim that Apple has earned huge profits in India from the wider distribution reach. Tarun Pathak, associate director at Hong Kong-based market research firm Counterpoint Technology Market Research said, “It expanded from a couple of distributors to more than five now within two years.”

“We believe that Apple’s direct tie-up with regional/area distributors can have a larger impact on its distribution reach,” he said.

Since its bullishness in India, Apple has recorded slower sales in China. In his interaction, Cook informed the analysts that there isn’t any growth in the Chinese region.
