Sexual Harassment case lodged against a Professor of IRMA by fellow woman employee:

The latest India news came out flashing when a woman employee at the Institute of Rural Management Anand (IRMA) reportedly accused one of the top management officials of sexual assault. She reported that the official made lewd sexual remarks on her and also tried to hug her without her consent. A FIR in this regard has been filed by the Anand Police on Tuesday. To ensure a fair probe, the police is arranging for the statements of eye-witnesses in this case.

As per the complaint filed by a woman, employed in the publication department of the reputed IRMA, said that the top official passed some indecent comment on her in the presence of other male members. The report claims that the comments had a sexual undertone.

The report further discloses that the woman approached an internal sexual harassment committee of IRMA in this regard on March 2 and reported the incident. She said that she joined the institute in September last year.

Almost immediately, he started passing sexually colored remarks. He tried to hug me and I brushed him aside, but he is used to passing vulgar comments all the time. What pushed me to take action was a revealing video of a staffer’s daughter, who was participating in a skipping rope competition at the institute, which he posted on the official Facebook page of IRMA. Later, he deleted his post.”

The complainant said that after reporting the issue to the committee she was assured of the due action to be taken. “I didn’t trust anybody so I went to the local complaints committee after that. They were supposed to revert to me in seven days. It did not happen, so I approached the police.”

Superintendent of Police, Anand, Saurabh Singh, said, “She has told us that on three or four occasions, the official made lewd comments at her in the presence of other professors. She felt uncomfortable. On one or two occasions, she heard him say something to someone else. These comments were not targeted at her, but she has felt that her modesty has been outraged. She also mentioned one more incident when he hugged her. We have made note of her complaint and filed the FIR. But we have to follow the Supreme Court judgment before initiating action against the official. We have to first take statements, collect evidence and interrogate other people who were present there.”

The FIR IS lodged under the amended sections of sexual harassment against women, namely, 354 (A)(iv), 354 (B) and 509. The news was certainly National news headline India as it involves the name of a reputed Indian Institute.

The 2018 Budget Proposal by Donald Trump chops off the climate funding:

If the President Donald Trump’s plans get executed perfectly, America will not be funding the Climate Change Programs from the coming year. As per the 2018 Budget Proposal presented by the White House on Thursday, there would be a combined cut of $10.1 billion that is 28% of the funding of two leading agencies that are employed on International Climate Work. The two agencies are the State Department and U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID)

The budget is likely to affect other agencies like Environmental Protection Agency and other departments with domestic climate programs as well but the two aforesaid agencies would experience the cut on its peak.

A top budget official during Obama’s administration, Kei Koizumi said, "It's clear that the administration intends to halt or reverse everything domestic and foreign related to addressing the challenge of climate change," "It's breathtakingly consistent."

The budget is being termed as a skinny budget and is claimed to showcase the priorities of the new President’s office.

The President's 2018 Budget states, "...Eliminates the Global Climate Change Initiative and fulfills the President's pledge to cease payments to the United Nations' (UN) climate change programs by eliminating U.S. funding related to the Green Climate Fund and its two precursor Climate Investment Funds."

Reacting to the news, the spokesperson of UNFCCC, Nick Nuttall said, "We understand that the new U.S. administration today published its first budget
proposal," "We also understand that approval of such a budget can be a long and complex process and we will follow it with interest." He added further.

The budget is also claimed to target the Green Climate Fund, which is made to help the developing countries to prepare for drastic climate changes. The budget seems to have targeted the climate sector specifically. The further updates on the story can be seen on leading Indian News Aggregator.

India's plans to buy strategic Russian weapons are in jeopardy. Here's why

In last year October, India disclosed its plan to buy strategic defense weapons from Russia that were to amount a fortune of $5.5 million which includes the shipbuilding as well. However, it seems that the plans are to face jeopardy as the Russian Firms appear to be unable in furnishing the requisite guarantee by the Indian Banks that owe the sanctions obligatory by the U.S.

Those who are familiar with the matter have shown their concerns regarding the purchase of S-400missile that India seeks mandatorily to seal and protect the air space of the country with Pakistan.

It was October last year when Russia and India signed a deal viz. inter-governmental agreement wherein the two finalize the sale of four Project 1135.6 class stealth frigates. Out of these four, two were to be made in India.  The deal also entails the creation of shipbuilding infrastructure in India.  Beside all these, India also volunteered to be the key runner in a forthcoming tender for a new class of conventional submarines which will be covered under the P75I project of the Indian Navy. However, all these projects seem to be fruitless after the U.S.-obligatory sanctions.

“No Indian bank can deal with any entity on the SDN list as this will get them into major trouble with the US. As international transactions involve trade in dollars, no bank can afford to be noncompliant with the sanctions list,” an official told a new daily.

According to the Indian rules, any foreign vendor, before bidding for any project related to defense equipment, has to provide guarantees with the reputed Indian Banks.

But, as per the US-Obligatory Specially Designated Nationals (SDN) sanctions on Russia’s United Shipbuilding Corporation, Indian banks are not able to grant guarantees for the contract.

The only solution to this is the amendment of India rules to grant Russia an exemption from the guarantee rule.
