Chemist shops to remain close today, in protest against cut of margins

All the chemist shops across the nation would remain closed on Tuesday under a protest by the All India Organization of Chemists and Druggists (AIOCD), against the stringent rules on the sales of medicines.

The All India Organization of Chemists and Druggists (AIOCD), in a statement, said that they sent many representations to the government in different areas opposing the rules and regulations set for the sale of medicines in the country but every time it wasn’t accepted. This is the reason the one-day strike was called.

"We have been asked to upload all information related to the sale of medicines on a portal, which is not possible with the existing infrastructure," said a senior member of AIOCD.

They are also opposing the trend of online pharmacy, which they quote pose a threat to their existing business. "The online pharmacy will also encourage irrational usage of medicines and sale of fake drugs," the AIOCD member said.

The strike was declared last week when the All India Organization of Chemists and Druggists (AIOCD), said that the strike is the last resort to their ongoing plight. They quote that online pharmacy has already snatched a big share of their profits and this would soon lead to a complete loss.

The government has not been paying notice to this problem and this is the reason the All India Organization of Chemists and Druggists (AIOCD), called for a strike.

This makes the latest national news as the supply of medicine would be completely banned for a day from 29 midnight 12 o clock to 30 midnight 12 o clock.

The All India Organization of Chemists and Druggists (AIOCD) will also be organizing a demonstration at the Jantar Mantar on Tuesday to highlight their concerns to the government.

Famous celebrities take part in tree plantation in Mumbai

Many Bollywood celebrities including Arjun Rampal, Sunny Leone, Pooja Batra and Arshad Warsi gathered for a plantation drive on Tuesday to help in saving the environment of the Mumbai City. It was an initiative of the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai and Bhamla Foundation under which the actors planted 1000 saplings and pledged to plant more.

Arjun Rampal who has been associated with the cause for quite some time now said to the media, "It is quite alarming how global warming is affecting the climate and environment, so we have to take a stand to protect the earth. It is our responsibility."

Designer Manish Malhotra who was also a part of the group said, "I think Asif Bhamla of Bhamla Foundation is doing a great job and I support the cause. Apart from our profession, I think we should pay attention to the environment because this is where we are living."

Considering the fact that Mumbai is facing a tough time in terms of environment as many constructors are cutting trees rapidly, Asif Bhamla said, "... everybody is active enough to create awareness and that is why a few years back the metro project of Arey Colony has stopped and now it is in a negotiation phase.

All the celebrities enjoyed their time to plant trees and watering them. This was a great initiative as today many people follow their favorite actors and if actors do such an activity the chances are high the people will follow suit.

As per a report, the pollution count of Mumbai has raised with a rate of 25% in past two years. The air is gradually becoming less breathable which will soon start affecting the human body and other vegetation.

India Has Plan A & Plan B for Kulbhushan Jadhav, Harish Salve

The International Court of Justice has stalled the execution of Kulbhushan Jadhav and has ordered Pakistan to wait until the allegations are proven. Former Solicitor Harish Salve while talking to leading news daily said that India had two plans for Kulbhushan; Plan A & Plan B. The plan A is a request for outright release what Harish quotes as "evolving jurisprudence" and under the Plan B, India would take a rather longer route which involves approaching Pakistani Courts.

"The international court is not a court of appeal where we show his innocence," Mr. Salve told a leading media house making the latest national news. "It is a court where we say the procedure which Pakistan had adopted to arrive at this death sentence violates the principles of Vienna Convention which is a multilateral treaty."

Salve is one of the brilliant minds of India that led the team of lawyers to prepare for the case of the 46-year-old former Indian naval officer. He also made a half an hour long presentation in front of ICJ earlier this week. Yesterday India was rewarded with some contentions when the ICJ ordered Pakistan to stall Jadhav’s execution until the final verdict is passed.

Further, the court accepted India’s contentions and said that Pakistan has illegally withheld the consular rights of Jadhav, an India officer accused of saying.

Talking about the plans ahead, Salve says India has two plans A & B. "egregious violation of human rights must compel the man being released". He further added that these are some of the options that only "adventurous lawyers like me" would try.

He said that there is another option that involves requesting Pakistan for annulment of the death sentence. "Get him proper legal representation and then let him be tried in a manner acceptable to civilized society," he said. "I am satisfied today that court has accepted most of which we put forth," Mr. Salve added.

Center approaches HC, says if all the forms of Talaq will go, we will form a new and justified Divorce Law.

The center has made an attempt to seek judicial review of the Honorable Supreme Court of the different forms of Talaq being practiced under the Muslim Law. This included talaq, Nikah Halala & polygamy. However, the attempt was rejected by the SC.

Quoting ‘TALAQ’ a discretionary power that must be practiced wisely, the center presented a report to a 5-judge bench and state the in all forms of talaq which also includes triple talaq, the center would make a law that will determine the rights of the Muslim men& women concerning divorce & marriages.

However, making the latest national news, the Supreme Court does not look pleased with the offer. “The manner, in which you are dealing with the case, will finish their (minority) rights.” The bench further added that because of “paucity of time” they will only consider triple talaq issue this time and all the other issues will be addressed later.

Attorney-General Mukul Rohatgi, in his attempt, urged the bench to address the issues of polygamy & Nikah Halala.

Rohtagi represents the center in the offer. He said, “It is inconceivable that one-half of a major community of this country suffer from lack of equality, status, and dignity as compared to womenfolk of other religious communities in this country as also womenfolk of the same community in other countries.”

The constitutional bench was headed by Chief Justice JS Khehar. The other members of the bench include justices Kurian Joseph, RF Nariman, UU Lalit and S Abdul Nazeer said, “Going by your argument, all forms of talaq are arbitrary and extra-judicial. If we strike down the unfettered right of the husband to unilaterally seek talaq, what remedy will be available to a Muslim husband to come out of marriage. Is it not beyond the purview of the judicial court to do so.”

Replying to this, the A-G said, “If all three forms of talaq - talaq-e-hasan, talaq-e-hasan, talaq-e-biddat - are held to suffer from the vice of unconstitutionality, the Centre will bring a law to fill the vacuum.”

Rohtagi also urged the court “The question to answer in this case will be whether women of one religion can be denied the full play of Fundamental Rights under the Constitution. Our argument is that all forms of talaq are opposed to the dignity of woman.”

India will participate in Champions Trophy, confirms BCCI

BCCI released latest national news confirming that India would participate in the Chanmpions trophy. The BCCI was retaliating the decision of ICC to dissolve the ‘Big three’ and thus lower the participation and revenue sharing of India with the Board.

The final playing team would be declared on Monday that will represent India in England for Champion’s Trophy.

BCCI made the decision after the Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA) met them to discuss the issue and advised to stay prudent while taking general body meeting decisions.

After the special general meeting in Delhi, BCCI released an official statement on Monday stating, “The BCCI SGM unanimously decided that the Indian cricket team will participate in the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy. The All-India Senior Selection Meeting will be held tomorrow, May 8, in New Delhi to pick the team,”

The statement quotes the decision to be a “unanimous” one. However, the former BCCI & ICC Chief, N Srinivasan, who was a part of the meeting through a video call, has quoted a more hawkish line on the International board.

It is learned that Srinivasan has suggested that India must send a written notice to ICC stating that India would revoke the 2014 Members Partnership Agreement and will also pull out of all the cricket events organized by the Board during 2015-2023. This would be in case ICC does not resume the profit sharing model.

In an interview with a leading news daily, Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) president Abhay Apte said, “Mr. Srinivasan said that we should send the notice. But then, Shuklaji (Rajeev Shukla) spoke, I spoke and we said that we want to protect national interests. But at the same time, we should talk to them (ICC) and see what best can be achieved for India, not only from the new financial model but the new governance model as well, which is equally important”.

“We said we have many other tournaments till 2023 and rather than taking a drastic step at the moment, we should talk to them. It (this opinion) gathered momentum… I think in the end, even Mr. Srinivasan said, ‘I will go with the sentiment of the house’,” said Apte.

Meanwhile, acting secretary to CoA and BCCI, Amitabh Choudhary is negotiating with the ICC to find a solution on the middle grounds.

The inside battle of AAP party, Kumar might quit

Aam Aadmi Party is going through a tough time and the inside battle is raging with the speculation that Kumar Vishwas would quit the party. In their last attempt to reproach Viswas to settle down his thoughts with the party, party chief, Arvind Kejriwal met the upset leader on Tuesday night. Kumar is reportedly upset over the allegations made by MLA Amanatullah Khan.

After emerging from the meeting, Kejriwal talked to the press making a latest national news as he said, "Kumar is upset, but I am sure we will convince him. He is an integral part of our movement,"

Earlier, on Tuesday, Kumar Vishwas went against the direction of the Party Chief and made some public remarks. He vents out his emotions addressing an impromptu press conference outside his Ghaziabad residence and said that if these allegations would be against Kejriwal or Manish Sisodia, khan would have been expelled from the party, there and then. He also said that he will make his final decision on Tuesday night. This gave air to the rumor that he is planning to quit the party.

Leaving signs that, Kejriwal is considering Vishwas defiance a serious matter, Manish Sisodia, deputy Chief Minister Delhi said in a public statement that the party knows well what is the reason behind the TV appearance of Vishwas and who all are getting benefitted with it.

Kejriwal has always claimed Kumar as his younger brother but it seems he is in no mood to do this anymore. The AAP Management is sending out clues that such incidents are destroying the public image of the party. On Tuesday, before Kejriwal’s meeting, Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh went to Kumar’s residence to talk with him and initiate the patch-up.

"I have conveyed this to Arvind and Manish and I reiterate it today that I don't want to become chief minister, deputy chief minister or AAP's national convenor. I don't want to join any political party or Swaraj India (political party founded by expelled AAP leader Yogendra Yadav and Prashant Bhushan). I am a volunteer," Vishwas said, adding, "I request the leadership not to kick volunteers and party workers."
