BCCI didn’t name the team, misses the deadline for Champions Trophy

This made latest national news in India as BCCI ignored ICC. 25 April was the last day to declare the team list to ICC for the upcoming Champions Trophy. While all other seven countries have already declared their list, India has skipped the deadline and haven’t sent any list to the ICC.

On Tuesday, Pakistan and India were the two teams to come up with the list of playing squad. While Pakistan did the same, India didn’t show up to the World’s Cricket Body, ICC

India & ICC have never been in good terms and something has always been an issue of debate between the two. This time it is the decision of ICC to dissolve the Big Three nations deal and thus cut the share of global revenue of India. To this India already have shown their concerns and threatened ICC to quit the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy. The Champions Trophy is scheduled from 1-18 May in the United Kingdom. India is the part of Defending Champions.

Though, BCCI is not mulling on stepping out right away, but, it is being considered as a contemplated pressure move by the Indian board. Even, until late evening there was no extension sought from the International board which clearly indicates the defiance in the Indian Board.
However, some insiders quote that naming the list of the playing squad is nothing more than a formality because the selectors are already aware of whom to choose.

"Tell me one thing, if we name the squad, say for example on May 5, will ICC bar us from participation. We have a settled squad and naming it is a mere formality," a top BCCI official told PTI.

Indian Cricket Team members are playing in IPL right now and presenting a marvelous show. It is now to see how the equation between ICC & BCC goes further.
