Sindhu- Olympic medal winning shuttler has won the heart of the nation
by making it to the silver medal. But it is quite amazing to see that
nobody knew PV Sindhu before she won medal at Rio Olympics. PV Sindhu
won back to back bronze medal at the 2013 and 2014 world championships.
India’s number one Sania Nehwal won her first World Championship medal in the year 2015, two years after PV Sindhu got her first. With these two medals, India’s account has improved from the depressing zero. Now few days are left for the Olympics 2016 and India has got very few athletes in action. But still there is a hope of one more medal. The athletes who are playing for a medal are- Aditi Ashok in women’s golf, Yogeshwar Dutt in men’s wrestling, Thonakal Gopi, Kheta Ram, Nitender Singh Rawat in the men’s marathon.
Aditi Ashok is a 18 year golfer from Bangalore and there is a probability that she will deliver a medal. On the other hand, the women’s marathon did not produce good results, but it is the time for men’s to show their talent. Thonakal Gopi and Nitender Singh Rawat are eager to break the world record of 2:12:00 which was established in 1978.
