On Wednesday, a 57-year-old
Indian Doctor from Telangana was chased and killed in his clinic in Kansas.
Achutha Reddy was a Psychiatrist who was found dead with multiple wounds in his
body in an alley behind his clinic in East Wichita. Later it was revealed that one of his patient, a 21-year-old man was behind the brutal murder.
This is the second incident in the year after Srinivas
Kuchibhotla, another doctor from Telangana
was shot dead in February.
As per the report recorded by the U.S. policedepartment, the attacker, Umar Rashid Dutt, "repeatedly stabbed the doctor after
a conversation." The doctor tries to escape from the murderer but he chased him and stabbed him to
death.
The accused was later arrested from a country club after the security of
the club reported that there is a suspicious man sitting in the parking lot with his clothes covered with
blood.
Dr. Reddy was a renowned psychiatrist of the region and besides offering
Holistic Psychiatric Services, he was also associated with many health and
fitness centers and was a yoga teacher as well. He was a father of three and hailed from Nalgonda district. Graduated from Osmania Medical College in 1986,
Reddy completed his residency in psychiatry at
the University of Kansas Medical School in Wichita. He then practiced for two
years and later started his own clinic.
Wichita Eagle newspaper wrote that the Denis Knight, president of the
Medical Society of Sedgwick County, said that: "The Medical Society is
heartbroken over the loss of Reddy."
There are several YouTube videos of Dr. Reddy. In one
f them he is seen explaining how he treated his chronic pain in yoga and has
learned the secrets of yoga which he wishes to share.
