PM Modi pitches investment from the US, claims "India Got $20 Billion during Lockdown"

On Wednesday, PM Narendra Modi reached out to various US firms and invited them to invest inIndia. He offered them an insight of the ways government is taking to facilitate investors and the growth the most of the sectors including infrastructure, aviation, and defense and space research have registered or hold potential of. Modi explained India as a great investment destination and said, "During the COVID-19 lockdown, India got 20 billion dollars in investment".

"Today, there is global optimism towards India. This is because India offers a perfect combination of openness, opportunities and options," Modi stated while delivering the keynote address at the India-Ideas summit.

Further identifying the areas where the government desires investments, he said, "You can see the optimism when India rises in key business ratings, particularly the Ease of Doing Business ratings of the World Bank"

India made a significant progress in October last year when it climbed 14places to rank 63rd among 190 nations in the World Bank's Ease of Doing Business ranking. Now the government has its eyes on the 50th spot. 

"Every year, we are reaching record highs in Foreign Direct Investment. Each year is significantly higher than the earlier one," he said, Giving examples, he added that FDI inflow in India in 2019-20 was $74 billion. "This is an increase of 20 per cent from the year before that," he added.

The summit was organized by the US-India Business Council and is intended to build a platform to bring the two countries together in building a post-coronavirus recovery agenda.

It was a virtual summit which was attended by US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, foreign minister S Jaishankar, finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman, commerce and industry and railways minister Piyush Goyal and government officials from the US and India.

Tapsee Pannu replies to the post calling her a supporter of “oppressors” in Bollywood

Tapsee Pannu has an answer for the Twitter user who blamed her and Swara Bhaskar of standing with ‘oppressors’ and further stated that if ‘next time a struggling actor gives up on life like Sushant Singh Rajput’ they would be the one responsible. 

Tapsee went on criticizing the way Bollywood treats outsiders and said that it is a “purely negative” way of demoralizing someone and would even result in killing the passion of a talented artist.

“God forbid next time a struggling actor gives up on life like Sushant Singh Rajput please do remember how @taapsee and @ReallySwara stood with oppressors. What an unfortunate, bitter world,” was the post from a Twitter user which started the controversy. Tapsee responded with another post which reads, “Next time another outstanding talent gets scared to even enter our industry n kills his passion and hope to contribute to Indian cinema coz some people painted purely negative picture about how outsiders are treated do remember YOU are ALSO responsible for it.”

A short while ago, in an interview with Republic TV, Kangana Ranaut also called outTapsee and Swara as needy outsiders who want to win favor from Karan Johar. Criticizing the practice of nepotism in Bollywood, Kangana said, “What I want to convey through this interview is... for me, I have only to lose here... because I know tomorrow they will get some 20 needy outsiders like Taapsee Pannu or Swara Bhasker who will get up and say, ‘Oh! Only Kangana has problems with nepotism. We love Karan Johar’. If you love Karan Johar, why are you both B-grade actresses? You are both better looking than Alia Bhatt and Ananya (Panday). You both are better actresses. Why don’t you get work? Your whole existence is proof of nepotism. What are you telling me about how happy you are with the industry?”

Tapsee replied to Kangana’s comment during an interview with a leading media house and said, “I never mentioned anywhere I like Karan Johar or anyone she alleges, but I have never said I hate them either. So, the fact that you don’t hate someone she hates, is equivalent to ‘you like that person and you suck up to that person’? I don’t even know him beyond formal ‘hi, hello, thank you’. How is this even logical?”

Rahul criticizes Amit Shah, asks is “"India at good position in #COVID19 battle?"

RahulGandhi has come up with his new set of attack on the government targeting the way the government has handled the coronavirus crisis while sharing a graph and quoting, “"India at good position in #COVID19 battle?"

The Congress leader tweet came a day after the Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that India had maintained a good position while handling the coronavirus situation in the country. Mr. Shah further emphasized that India is ready to fight the disease with determination and enthusiasm.

Gandhi has shared a graph which shows the exact growth of coronavirus cases in the country. The graph shows a comparative analysis of seven says coronavirus cases reported in the US, India, South Korea and New Zealand. Gandhi has been very critical about the government’s way of handling the pandemic.

Amit Shahclaimed that the way India has handled the pandemic is being appreciated by theworld.

Addressing a webinar on Sunday, Amit Shah said, "We are at a good position in this coronavirus battle and will continue this fight with determination and there is no atmosphere of fear. We have the passion to battle it and enthusiasm to defeat it (coronavirus)." 

"The world is seeing that if a successful battle has been fought anywhere across the globe against the coronavirus it is India under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi," Mr. Shah said. "It was feared that how would a large country like ours would face this challenge given that we have a federal structure of governance, dense population of 130 crore people and no single chain of command," Amit Shah said.

Currently, India secures third-highest place in the world in terms of cases recorded. It is closely behind the United States and Brazil.
