Krishna Janmashtami also known by the names Saatam Aatham,
Gokulashtami, Srikrishna Jayanti is celebrated with great pomp and show
in India. It symbolizes annual celebrations of the birth of the Hindu
deity Krishna who is also an eighth avatar of Vishnu. Krishna
Janmashtami is celebrated on the right day of the month of Shravana,
according to the Hindu calendar. This year, the festival in the country
will be celebrated on August 25. It is believed that it will be the
5243th birthday of Lord Krishna.
